The 2016 Provincial Food Safety Publicity Week activities officially launched



On June 13th, the launching ceremony of the 2016 Provincial Food Safety Publicity Week was grandly held at the entrance of Xinghua Park in Hefei City. Liang Weiguo, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, attended the event and announced the official launch of the Publicity Week activities. The launching ceremony was presided over by Xu Hengqiu, Director of the Provincial Food Safety Office and Director of the Provincial Food and Drug Administration.
More than 120 people attended the launching ceremony, including responsible comrades from 18 relevant departments such as the Provincial Food Safety Office, Provincial Civilization Office, Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Provincial Public Security Department, Provincial Department of Agriculture, Provincial Department of Commerce, Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce, Provincial Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, and Provincial Food and Drug Administration; the main responsible comrades of the Luyang District People's Government; enterprise representatives; and representatives from news media.
Chen Xiaojun, Inspector of the Provincial Food and Drug Administration, and responsible comrades from the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, respectively, made statements at the launching ceremony. At the launching ceremony site, relevant departments set up promotional booths and display boards, distributed promotional materials, and accepted on-site inquiries from the public. Citizens actively participated in the interaction; the activity site was bustling with people, and citizens enthusiastically consulted on food safety-related knowledge and collected promotional materials. On the same day, food safety offices in various cities and counties (cities, districts) held publicity week sub-venue activities in conjunction with relevant departments and units at the same level.
This year's theme for the Food Safety Publicity Week activities is "Upholding Morality and Abiding by the Law, Jointly Governing and Sharing Food Safety". From June 13th to June 27th, a series of food safety publicity and education activities will be carried out, aiming to promote the parallel implementation of moral governance and the rule of law, promote the comprehensive upgrading of food safety assurance capabilities and production and operation management, mobilize the active and orderly participation of multiple social entities, and build a strict and efficient food safety governance system with social co-governance.
From June 14th to June 27th, 15 departments including the Provincial Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, Anhui Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Shanghai Railway Bureau Hefei Railway Office, Provincial Public Security Department, Provincial Department of Commerce, Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce, Provincial Department of Agriculture, Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, China Insurance Regulatory Commission Anhui Regulatory Bureau, Provincial Grain Bureau, Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Provincial Women's Federation, and Provincial Food and Drug Administration will, in accordance with their departmental responsibilities and work realities, successively hold distinctive departmental theme day publicity activities.
The Provincial Food and Drug Administration's theme day activities will be diverse in form and rich in content: they will include the review of infant formula enterprises and on-site observation, "open kitchen" in the catering service industry, and experience exchange activities for the creation of small catering demonstrations; they will cooperate with relevant media and institutions and enterprises to carry out food safety "you point, I inspect" activities; and they will cooperate with the Provincial Department of Education to carry out food safety knowledge essay contests, plan and select young food safety reporters, and hold "school canteen open days" to enhance the food safety literacy of primary and secondary school students. In addition, during the Publicity Week, the Provincial Food Safety Office and the Provincial Food and Drug Administration will also have plans for producing public service advertisements, producing food safety knowledge charts, holding "Food Safety Knowledge Lectures," and holding food safety press briefings.
